Overview

Background
The Science Club is an innovative and enterprising club. It aims to give our pupils learning experiences and exposure to an array of interesting activities. Members are educated in life Science and environment Science. Members embark on a wonderful and fruitful journey of discovery through the activities in the club.

 
Vision
The Science Club aims to be the Premier Club in Poi Ching School by giving our pupils exposure and learning experiences to a wide array of interesting activities.
 
Mission
To develop critical and inquisitive minds by stimulating interest in Science through experiential learning and activities beyond the classroom.
 
Objective
To create opportunities for pupils to excel and pursue their talents outside the curriculum. Pupils are empowered to integrate real life usage of knowledge into existing curriculum with pragmatic results.
 
Programmes
Life Science
The Young Arborist Programme – Exploring Our Trees and Living Heritage
(A joint community project by NParks and HSBC.)
Arborist are experts with a deep understanding of trees and the art and science of caring for them. Pupils will develop a love for our natural heritage and be interested and involved in caring for our living environment.
 
Community In Bloom  
To promote gardening as a healthy lifestyle and inculcate a love for the environment.
 
Environmental Science
Schools’ Green Audit Programme
This is a simple environmental audit programme for all schools in Singapore. Members work in teams to audit our school and submit results together with a report on our environmental efforts, including plans for improvements.
Members are also Environment Champions who will help to encourage others to care for and protect our living environment by adopting an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
 
M.A.C.E. – Marine Conservation Project
Members are empowered with life skills to promote Marine Conservation. They embark on a journey of self-discovery as they take on the role of Marine Life Ambassador whereby they do research and make a study of marine life.
 
Applied & Creative Science
Sony Creative Science Award:
SCSA (School) & SCSAprovides a platform for our members to dream up fantastic toy ideas, unleash their creativity and build their very own toy. Members go through the process of go through a journey of self-discovery whilst inventing a unique toy in a supportive environment, helping them develop lateral thinking skills and confidence through their invention.
 
Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC)
Members will undergo a rewarding learning experience to make flying machines (paper planes) whereby they will put their creativity, scientific knowledge and flying machine to the test.  Selected members will participate in the SAFMC Category A – Paper Plane which requires competitors to fold paper planes that can achieve the longest flight endurance, perform loops and achieve precision flight.
